'Jonah's Quids' is a short film
that tells the story of Jonah - a 13 year
old who lives on a South London estate. One day Jonah finds a £50
note, and decides to use it to take his friend, Crystal, on an all
expenses paid day trip to his childhood favourite seaside town of
Margate. Crystal is a couple of years above Jonah
at school but lives near him on the estate and they are good friends
who walk to school together.
Jonah is hoping to impress Crystal with this
trip, but when they reach the seaside he soon realises that things
aren't always the same as you remember them. The dodgem cars aren't there anymore, and it's not the bustling summer seaside town he knew from his childhood.
On the surface 'Jonah's Quids' is a simple tale
of unrequited love, but at it's essence it is about a boy at the point
when he realises that things really can't be as they once were. That
they have to change. That you can't relive your childhood.
In simple
terms - we are watching the point when Jonah starts to grow up.
